August is National Family Fun Month and getting ready for the new school year.
Retail stores have already kicked off back-to-school season with shelves partially full — now picked over by parents scrambling this week — of supplies for the classroom. This

Go to a community pool and then stop for ice cream- A picnic and play games in a local park
- Enjoy a backyard campfire
- Take a family bike ride or hike on the C & O Canal
- Visit an area zoo or aquarium
- Go fishing on a local pond or the Potomac River
